Welcome to our blog!

In partnership with the Arkansas Department of Human Services, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences would like to welcome you to the Psych TLC blog. It is part of Psychiatric Telehealth, Liaison and Consults (Psych TLC), which is a program of the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute.

Psych TLC offers telephone consultation and tele-psychiatric evaluations to provide psychopharmacologic and/or diagnostic consultation to primary care physicians caring for children, adolescents and families experiencing emotional and behavioral disorders resulting in functional impairment. A child and adolescent psychiatrist is available via telephone to provide free consultation to physicians such as pediatricians, family practice physicians, and general psychiatrists. Other physicians are welcome to call as well.  Simply call 501-526-7425 or toll-free 1-866-273-3835 to access the UAMS Psych TLC Call Center. The program operates Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding state holidays. As a parent, you can ask your child’s physician to call us if you have any questions related to your child.

Furthermore, the Psych TLC program also provides training and continuing medical education units in child and adolescent mental health diagnosis, management, and services for primary care and other physicians.  Regional roundtables and interactive video teleconferences are available to provide education on evidence-based treatment guidelines. Let us know if you’d like to have a presentation by one of our Psych TLC staff.

This blog is part of our effort to reach out to the community and address, if possible, some of the concerns and questions that arise in regards to the mental health of our children. Feel free to send questions to us. We will try our best to answer you in a timely manner.
